A Tribute to Easter
There are many holidays that have religious significance, but none as momentous for a Christian than Easter. As a Christian designer, Easter means everything in terms of both my religion and profession.
For Christians Easter Sunday represents the fulfillment of God’s love for us, the great Creator coming down from heaven to die for his creation and defeating death itself. Jesus’ death and resurrection has given his people a future and given them a purpose to live. “…just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4).
As a creator myself, God has set a great example for what it means to care for your creation. God cares so much for his creation that he died for it, to save us from the consequences of sin. I have lost sleep many nights for design, gone without food and even bled at times for “my creation” but I would never die for it. This may seem like a silly comparison. Comparing artwork to human beings as if they are equal, and it is a bit silly. My challenge to you, however, is to care more about your creation, even if they are mere pixels on an art board.
Easter reminds us of God’s sacrifice for us, and we are reminded that we are built in God’s image–the ultimate Creator. “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). If we are truly called to be creatives, then we should be putting as much care and passion into our work as humanly possible. For this is our fulfillment of being called to Christ.
So this Easter, enjoy your time with family, friends, and those around you. Be reminded of the sacrifice that was made for you to live according to your calling and follow in the footsteps of the original Creator, who is risen from death itself.
