Spire is excited to be a part of the upcoming CIVA Biennial Conference – Making Now, taking part on June 15-18, 2017 at Azusa Pacific University. We will be curating a track of workshops/panels throughout the event called DESIGN NOW – a series of dialogues from professional design leaders and visual artists across multiple design disciplines about where the process of creation and the creation story intersect.
Design has arrived at its second golden age due to an explosion of technological advances and the continuing grey space where design begins and ends in relation to marketing, technology and art. This has put the disciplines of design at the forefront of many conversations that ask how creatives see the world and how we as visualizers help the world see itself. As we engage in the act of making designs that steer how people see and receive narratives, are we able to call back to the original designer and how do we integrate a perspective of the coming kingdom as visual futurists?
Friday June 16, 1:45–3:15pm

Design meets Art: A Love Story
Nowhere is the line between art & design as blurred as it is in Hollywood. Where does one line begin and the other end in the town where the currency of both is storytelling? Making the future and trying to save it
How design thinking, user experience and entrepreneurial passions are changing the way we design. Startups have changed the way we as designers have engaged our own processes. What are the biblical principles that guide us as we design for the future and how does this shape our role in it as visual and idea makers?
